What should I do about yellow scabs on my new puppy's belly?

I have a newly winged blue nose pitbull puppy that I got from a friend yesterday & I noticed some yellow scabs on her belly what can I do about them. Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 19 days old | 5 lbs

A vet’s visit would be best to determine whether the yellow scab are from dermatitis/pyoderma which is a fairly common skin infection. A Medicated shampoo such as Malaseb (available on PetCo.com, chewy.com, 1800Petmeds) that contains chlorhexidine and ketoconazole that is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-seborrheal (will help remove greasy flakes) used to shampoo the belly 2-3 times a week for 2-3 weeks, leaving the suds on 5-10 min prior to rinsing for optimal efficacy may be helpful. (Towel dry but never use a hair dryer on a puppy to avoid burns.) An in person physical exam would still be advisable as other skin conditions such as ringworm can possibly present as yellow flakes and would likely require more than Malaseb shampoo to treat.
