Why is my cat still throwing up worms and mucus after deworming?

What is this kind of worm? my cat is throwing up mucus and these occasionally and has been wormed for roundworm when I initially got and then again 30 days later please help stray pick up not a lot of money thank you

That looks like a roundworm. You need to deworm a cat every two weeks when they have worms due to the life cycle of the worm. The deworming treatment will not kill eggs. So the first treatment kills the adult worms present while the second one kills the worms that had not yet hatched at the time of the first deworming. Give Max a deworming treatment now, another in two weeks, and then another two weeks after that to be safe.

When we deworm a pet, it only kills the worms in the body. For some types of intestinal parasites, a repeat dewormer 3-4 weeks later is required to completely rid the infection. If Fiyero is otherwise normal (good activity and eating well), he can probably wait until Monday.

Poor kitty. Typically most pets require a second deworming 2 weeks after the 1st to treat for re-emergence of worms because of their life cycle, so yes it is appropriate to deworm Molly at this time. Pyrantel palmoate or Fenbendazole are typicallly used. This should clear things up for good, as long as she doesn't get re-infected from exposure to the outside. Keeping her on a monthly flea preventative like Revolution can also help prevent re-infection because it contains an intestinal dewormer in it as well.

It could be they had worms previously and you didn't know it. It sometimes can take until there is a heavy infestation of worms for you to see them in vomit or feces. Typically only eggs are passed in the feces, and those eggs can be seen with a microscope, not the naked eye. You have to repeat the deworming treatment to kill all the worms. The first one treats the adults already present, while the second in two weeks will kill the ones that had not yet hatched at the time of the first treatment. Hopefully you will stop seeing dead worms in the next couple of days, but it means the treatment is working. Best of luck.

Cats with earthworm like worms in their vomit along with some blood. Please reach out! We tried to treat for worms, but the problem won't go away and looks like it's worsening.
The cats need to see a vet. We cannot diagnose worms based on your description. I suggest you get the cats to a vet so you can get a proper diagnosis of what type of worms they are and then they can be properly treated. Over the counter dewormers do not treat for every possible type of worm a cat can have. You need the diagnosis so the appropriate dewormer can be given. If they are vomiting worms they have a high worm burden and the blood is very concerning.

Submit the worm and a stool sample to your veterinarian to identify the specific parasite. You may need to repeat the deworming and then use a monthly preventative. The dewormer likely did not clear all the parasites, since it only affects the parasites at a certain stage in its lifecycle.

how long does it take worm medication to stop a cat from vomiting
Deworming doesn't directly stop vomiting. IF the vomiting is indeed caused by the intestinal worms, I would expect vomiting to stop within a week or so of deworming, but it could be longer if the parasite load was causing a lot of irritation. I would still recommend a recheck if still vomiting after 5-7 days.

I got a golden retriever puppy from a breeder last week and she threw up a live roundworm today. She’s 11 weeks old and this is the first worm I’ve noticed.Her paperwork says she was given a worming treatment by the vet on 12/17/19. Is this common?
Because of the life cycle of worms, it takes at least two deworming treatments given two weeks apart to kill all of them. The first kills the adult present, while the second kills the worms that had not yet hatched from eggs at the time of the first treatment. You will need to give Marley another deworming treatment now, and another one in two weeks. After that, she should be given a deworming treatment once a month until she is six months of age. She should then be given a deworming treatment every three months thereafter. I hope this helps.

No need to apologize for posting again, we are here to help :-) Even though Misty has been dewormed once, it will take more than one deworming treatment to kill all the worms. The first deworming treatment kills all the adult worms, but it doesn't kill the eggs. That's why you need to give a second deworming treatment two weeks after the first. This second treatment will kill the worms that had not yet hatched at the time of the first treatment. I would give her another deworming treatment in a week, and then if that still doesn't clear up the diarrhea, have her seen by a vet. You are correct her kittens can get worms from her, and they should be dewormed as well. I hope this helps!

Cat threw up spaghetti like substance the other day we gave it round worm meds but i dont see any worms in its stool. R the meds not working?
Sometimes the worms die and just come out like mucus in the stool, not full worms. If you gave the proper dose I’m sure it was effective.
