My puppy has Parvo. What are her chances & risk to my vaccinated dogs?

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 27 days old | 13 lbs

My 4 month old pup got diagnosed with Parvo this afternoon. She has only had one vaccination shot about a month ago. She went 2 days without vet care because of public holidays and no emergency services here (small town) but is in hospital now & IV fluids. What are her chances of surviving Parvo (she survived 3 days so far)? After finding out, I vaccinated my other dogs immediately (they've had vaccinations before) and started disinfecting everything. What are their chances of contracting it?

Since your dogs have been vaccinated before, as long as the vaccines were up to date, they should be ok and not get it. Your puppy's best chance of survival is with the vet, and surviving the first four to five days is a good indication. If she makes it through those days, hopefully she will be ok.

Can a dog survive from Parvo virus even if they are unvaccinated?
It can survive, but parvo is a very deadly disease so there is a good chance the dog can die. To have the best chance of survival, your dog does need to be hospitalized. Parvovirus treatment consists of aggressive supportive care to control the symptoms and boost your dog’s immune system to help him win the battle against this dangerous disease. Dogs infected with parvovirus need intensive treatment in a veterinary hospital, where they receive antibiotics, drugs to control the vomiting, intravenous fluids and other supportive therapies. I brought my puppy home from an animal shelter, they did not tell us she was having diarrhea. Later that night she had terrible diarrhea and the next day she started throwing up. I took her to the vet they said she tested strong positive for parvo. T
Poor Music. It is so difficult to tell whether or not she will make it this early. If she isn’t improving, you may consider taking her back to the vet for bloodwork and see if there is a 24 hour facility in your area that can watch her and give her the fluids and IV antibiotics if needed. Make sure she is either eating or getting some nutrical to keep her blood sugar up. When they go without food and are sick, their glucose can get really low which can cause a lot of issues. I hope this helps and she pulls through. Keep giving her the fluids and antibiotics and watch her closely.

My pup is suffering from parvo virus is he going to survive or he gonna die
Parvo virus is very serious and each case is different. Some dogs survive, while others don't despite our best efforts. Please ensure he is under the care of a veterinarian and he may even need to be hospitalized. I'm sorry you are going through this and I wish you the best.

Cooper has parvo. I noticed right away and took him to animal hospital the next day. He is hospitalized now. He had his first shot of parvo but didn’t finish all of them. Can he survive ?? He is 6 months and he weights 60 pounds
I'm sorry to hear that Cooper has parvo! You did the right thing by taking him to the vet as soon as you noticed a problem. I'm glad he's currently hospitalized for treatment. Parvo is a serious illness and there are no guarantees... but in general, older puppies like Cooper tend to fare better than younger pups. Since you were able to get him started on treatment right away, he has a fairly good chance of surviving. I hope he's able to pull through. <3

The most important thing you can do to keep your dogs safe from parvovirus is to keep them up to date on the parvovirus vaccine. I would call your vet immediately and inquire about vaccinating the puppy, and watch for any signs of diarrhea. If your dogs are up to date on their vaccines, then their risk is very, very low. Again, watch for any signs of diarrhea or GI upset but I wouldn't worry too much about your dogs if they've been well vaccinated!

A dog's chances of survival with [parvovirus](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/parvovirus/) are entirely dependent on the pets will to thrive and genetics. But yes, you do increase survival with quick veterinary action and appropriate treatment. The parvo vaccine at this time is not recommended because you suspect she may already be infected with parvovirus. The same applies to people, if a person has the flu already it is not advised to give them the flu vaccine. She will most likely not be okay with just hydration because parvovirus requires a multiple treatment for the best chance at survival. It is best to take her to your vet for proper medical treatment for parvovirus, which can be treated at home with medication given to you by the vet if you cannot hospitalize her (which is the optimal treatment). I have been successful in saving parvo infected pets with having the owner return daily for injectable antibiotics, anti-nausea medications, subcutaneous fluids and Vitamin

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Yes, he can survive though will require appropriate therapy and in a timely fashion. This usually involves intravenous fluids, antibiotics, supportive care medications for like diarrhea and vomiting if present, among other possible therapies. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your closest emergency clinic as soon as possible as the main concern with these patients is severe dehydration and anemia if there is blood involved. My Shih Tzu died because of Parvo Virus 4 days ago. If i buy now a new puppy with complete vaccine, is the new one still danger in Parvo Virus?
I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes, there's a good chance the new puppy will still be at risk even if she has had a parvo vaccine. Puppies do not achieve full immunity to parvovirus until they've received the full vaccination course. This means they are vaccinated monthly for parvovirus starting around 8 weeks old until they are over 16 weeks old. If they have not received the full series they are still at risk for parvo. If the puppy has received the full parvovirus vaccine series then they are likely protected. However, no vaccine is 100% perfect so there is still a mild risk to the new puppy. Also, because parvovirus can remain in the environment for a full year or longer it is highly likely there is parvo in the household or yard.

My dog died from parvo.. Are my other dogs has it too?
I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. If your other dogs are adults (over 2 years old) and current on their vaccinations, it is very unlikely that they would get parvo - this is almost always a disease of unvaccinated puppies. But, if you have other puppies or young dogs in the house, especially if they are not current on vaccines, then I would be concerned that they may catch it. The virus lives in the environment for years, so I would recommend cleaning everything that your puppy came into contact with using a diluted bleach solution.
