Hi! Hughie has just transitioned to raw diet under the supervision of a vet over the last 14 days, and has been completely raw for the last 3 days, in order to address a kidney issues. Last night he ate some kibble being fed to another dog, and he has vomitted, is trying to eat anything he can to make himself throw up (like grass, bushes or even the Christmas tree) and he seems very uncomfortable. We’ve kept him from eating grass or anything else, but is there anything we can do for him?

Poor guy. You could try some anatacids. Call your vet to get a dosage since they have seen Hughir and are legally ok to provide the dosage for you. THe best thing to do here though is to let his stomach settle by fasting him for 12 hrs and then slowly introduce small portions of plain boiled chicken or lean ground turkey and white rice for the next few days. Sometimes with a sour stomach it isn't necessarily bad to allow the pet to make themselves vomit a few times to get whatever upset them out of their system. I do hope that Hughir feels better soon! If the vomiting continues then its best to have your vet take a look at him. He likely will need anti-nausea medication to stop the vomiting episodes and get him back on track. With his history of kidney disease, your vet may even just allow you to come by and pick up the medication without having to schedule an appt. Its worth a shot! Best of luck moving forward. Take care! : )
