Why is my outdoor dog's fur thinning and getting lighter?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 87 lbs

My dog fur got thinner/lighter around his pelvis area up to his binder 2 back legs, then spreading around the 2 sides of his front legs as well.... he got black beautiful furs before I sent him to stay at my cousin 'a home for three weeks when I were out of the country. He came back with his fur issues & it kept on going. I wonder what might had happened since my cousin mentioned about my dog caught some rodents during his staying there at her home. Since he must stay outside 100% . Pls help

Can you please post again with some photos of the fur? It is not likely that any interaction or ingestion of rodents has anything to do with it. The color change is mostly likely due to temperature changes.
