My dog's eye is suddenly cloudy, white, and red. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

Hi my dog woke up this morning with his right eye very cloudy and white. The actual whites of his eyes are red and he was fine last night. He is a yorkie chihuahua mix and is 6 years old.

It could be Buddy injured his eye or has an eye infection. Any eye problem should be checked out by a vet immediately because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into a vet asap.

A cloudy eye can be due to a corneal scratch or ulcer, a cataract, or even glaucoma. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as you can, especially if the eye also seems red or painful. The vet may want to stain the eye to look for a scratch or check the pressure in the eye.

I have a puppy that is a mix between a chihuahua and cocker spaniel, one of its eyes is cloudy blue and a type of goo is coming out of it.

My 1 year old Labrador's left eye looks a bit cloudy since this morning, the other one is fine. He doesn't seem to have any fever.

This is an emergency, your vet should see you right away, if he refuses you have to take him to another vet that will see him today. cloudiness of the eye is a very serious symptom, there are several eye condition that could cause that but it is important to start the treatment urgently, otherwise permanent eye damage could occur.

Yes, there is a concern with this. His eye could be cloudy due to an eye infection, cataracts, trauma to the eye, or glaucoma. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. My dog's eyes have become very cloudy overnight, he tends to squint a lot or keep his eyes closed and has a slower reaction to visual things.
Poor Hank! It could be he has a serious eye infection leading to this cloudiness, squinting, and trouble seeing. He could have also injured his eye. It's very concerning this just happened overnight, and any problem with the eye should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Hura’s eyes is like cloudy on his rigth eye should he needs vet doctor
Poor Hurah! I can't see his eye very well in this photo, but any cloudiness is always cause for concern. Depending on the specific part of the eye that looks cloudy, this could be caused by glaucoma, a corneal scratch or ulcer, a severe eye infection, or cataracts. I would definitely recommend taking Hurah in to see a vet as soon as you are able to. He/she can examine the eye using a special stain if needed to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.

Hello there! Vennesa could have a severe eye infection, may have injured her eye, or could have glaucoma. She needs to see a vet for this problem, and she has to see one as soon a possible. Leaving an eye problem untreated can lead to permanent vision loss, and this will be painful for her. There are no pain medications you can give, as many human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. In addition, this eye problem can't be treated at home.
