My dog is lethargic, not eating, and sleeping more. What's the issue?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old

Rilo has been sleeping a lot much than usual. He doesn’t eat right away like he used too. Not very energetic. What could be the issue here? After getting neutered he has a kidney issue. His blood has been check 3 months after and everything was normal.

These behaviors are signs of illness, but unfortunately there are very general signs of many illnesses. Without seeing Rilo in person, I can't say what is going on. I'd have him seen by a vet in the morning.

Hello! I'm doing well today, and I'm sorry that you are so worried about Kamilo. Lethargy is a very common symptoms of many illnesses such as a systemic illness, infection, inflammation, kidney disease, liver disease, injury, or cancer. I'm not sure if he's eating or drinking, but if he is, I would keep an eye on him for now. Should he still be lethargic in another 24-48 hours, take him into the vet for a check up. If he develops other signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, and stops eating or drinking, take him into a vet immediately. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

That's not good,. Unfortunately a loss of appetite is a common sign of many illnesses. I wish it could narrow it down, but I can't without seeing Riko in person. I would take him into another vet for a second opinion as well as blood work and a urinalysis.

It sounds like Knox is lethargic. Lethargy is a very general sign of illness, and it could be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. Because this behavior has been ongoing for the past couple of days, I would have him seen by the vet in the morning for a health check. I hope this helps!

Hi and thanks for posting. Sounds like this is unusual behavior for Ruby and certainly is concerning. There can be a number of things that may be going on here and it is very hard to say what exactly is the cause without examining Ruby in person. I would recommend Ruby sees a veterinarian for a hands on exam as soon as possible to help pinpoint where the problem is. Your veterinarian may also recommend x-rays, blood work, fecal testing, or other tests to aide in an accurate diagnosis.

Poor Pocholo! It definitely sounds like he isn't feeling well for some reason. Unfortunately, these symptoms are very vague and could be caused by almost any type of illness or injury, so there's no way to say what might be wrong without being able to examine him. I would recommend taking him to the vet for a check-up as soon as you are able to - he/she can do some blood work or other testing if needed to help determine what's wrong and get him started on appropriate treatment for the problem.

My dog is very lethargic lately. He is not eating and is not moving almost at all.
These are signs that he is either in a great deal of pain, or is very sick. There could be many possible causes of this, so it's difficult to say what exactly this means, or how easily this can be treated, but it's worth a visit to the vet. The vet will be able to help narrow-down the cause and at-least give treatment to make him feel better. Given his current condition, I reccomend he go to the vet within the next 24 hours. Hi. If he is acting abnormal, and its notike him, I would recommend an exam and labwork by your veterinarian. There are many things that can cause lethargy unfortunately. So without more information and testing, it is hard to say what it could be

Sleeping a lot and eating little is, unfortunately, a general sign of not feeling well. This could be an infection, metabolic diseases (liver, renal), or something else. A veterinary visit is recommended, the sooner the better. That will help with a diagnostics and treatment plan. Good luck.

I’m sorry Buddy isn’t feeling well. The good news is that his blood work looked good! Sometimes with real nebulous Symptoms such as what Buddy is displaying it can be difficult to pin point the cause. When he is sleeping standing or sitting it makes me suspect that laying down is uncomfortable. This makes me wonder is his belly or his back is uncomfortable . Young dogs certainly have a reputation for eating things they shouldn’t and an intestinal foreign body would be high on my list of concerns. Also I see a lot of back pain in these types of cases as well. Sometimes serial examinations are helpful because you find things on a repeat examination that maybe wasn’t as evident the day before. If he doesnt seem to improve then I would encourage you to have a follow up appointment soon. An x-Ray of his abdomen may be recommended. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.
