My cat has a recurring abscess that burst. Is it safe to wait?

My cat has an abscess and it had been lanced and drained with a vet and has stitches. She got another abscess in the same area under her chin. Do you think they didn't get it all out. The new abscess burst and is starting to dry up finally. Do you think she will be okay to see the vet on Friday since the vets are closed for the holiday?

Hello. It is not unusual for a secondary abscess to show up days later. It may have resulted from a draining tract from the first, or another incident similar to what caused the first abscess. Since the new abscess seems to be drying up & Yum Yum is ( hopefully ) on antibiotics, waiting until Friday to see the vet should be OK. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
