My cat in heat got out. Will she return and how long does heat last?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 21 days old | 8 lbs

My cat is in heat for the first time. I have been keeping her inside. Unfortunately, someone let her out. I saw her last night with 3 male cats. I have been outside calling her name but no response. Will she come back? How long will her being in heat last?

Hopefully she will come back once she gets hungry. She has a good chance of being impregnated though. The heat cycle in cats lasts for about 1-3 weeks on average. Best of luck moving forward with Dory. Take care.

    Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She is a bit late in returning in to heat. Cats usually go back in to heat with in 1-3 weeks during mating season. If she is not pregnant it should be anytime now. If the mating season is ending it could be longer, more towards 3 months. I hope this helps!

6 days is a long time, although it's pretty impossible to predict how long she might be gone for. Usually when they're in heat they come and go, returning home to eat. Hopefully she has come back home by now, but if not I would put signs up in your neighborhood.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tigresa. Cats will go into heat multiple times throughout the breeding season. The cycles can vary in length, but generally last about one week. If she does not mate, her symptoms will resolve. She will likely go back into hear again soon though. Spaying her will alleviate these signs. I hope this information helps!

You will see a decrease and then elimination of the yowling and lordosis. Most cats will come into heat every 3 weeks. My cat is ready to mate and it shows clearly, but her mate will only arrive within one week from now. What can i do to tone her urges down but not completely stop them?
Unfortunately it is unlikely she will still be in heat, receptive and fertile in one week and you will likely have to wait for her next heat cycle before breeding her. Most cats are only in heat for a few days and will repeat again in around 2weeks

Willow is adorable! A heat cycle in a cat can last from a few days to a week, so this is quite normal. Female cats are als induced ovulators, meaning that the frequency of their heat cycles will vary given the time of year (amount of sunlight) and if an intact male cat is nearby.

Cats can go pretty far from home, especially females in heat. I bet Arya went out to find males with which to mate. I would ask people in the neighborhood if they have seen her, check local vet clinics, and locals pounds/animal shelters. You can put up posts around the neighborhood and on social media. I hope you find her soon! Should you find her, don't be surprised if she's pregnant. If she isn't, get her spayed to stop this behavior.

What gorgeous cats! Cats are induced ovulators, meaning that mating will causes them to ovulate. Most females require three to four matings within a 24 hour period for ovulation to occur. After a few matings, their heat cycle will shorten in length. Eggs will be released in response to a hormone surge that is triggered by the breeding. She is likely still in heat. The heat cycle in cats lasts about a week on average but can be as short as 1 day or as long as 2-3 weeks. Mating triggers ovulation and it may take several matings for Kalifa to become pregnant.
