Could my aggressive mother dog have killed her missing puppy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female

My Jack Russell recently gave birth to one puppy on the 3rd of November. The entire family gave attention to the new puppy, the mother showed signs of being jealous, we woke up one morning and couldn’t find the puppy. It’s been missing ever since, is it possible that the mother actually killed the puppy? As it’s also aggressive towards our other dog. Should I be worried?

Yes it is very possible. If the mom is killing puppies, or aggressive to other dogs, I would recommend having her spayed and not having any more puppies to prevent any more being killed and prevent a lot of stress on Spike. It would also be a good idea to seek out a dog trainer or behaviorist in your area that can work with you on the aggression issues.
