My dog threw up a firm, squishy, fat-like object. What is it?

What is this? My dog threw it up and it’s firm with a little squish to it. It’s almost like a piece of fat.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Very interesting! Without touching it myself and opening it I can only speculate: Chicken skin/cartilage, parasite, rubber foreign material. I would put it in a baggie and see if your Vet can identify it in person. Consider bringing a stool sample as well to check for gastro-intestinal parasites. If your dog continues to vomit, is lethargic or stops eating I would have him/her seen right away in case there is more of this material that is causing stomach irritation or an obstruction. This looks like a foreign body, it could be a piece of material covered in gastric juices. Rinse it in water and it may be clearer what it is. I would definitely attend your vet as there could be more than this. Hopefully this is all the foreign body but best to be sure.

Hello. It looks like something or someone vomited up a combination of emesis & something very fibrous. It is probably indigestible , hence the reason it was vomited up in the first place. I would not let your pet near it so dispose of it properly. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

I am sorry to hear about your dog. Based on your photo this doesn't look like any worms I have seen. It almost looks like fabric or stuffing that is in strips. If your dog continues to vomit, has decreased appetite or energy then I would recommend an examination by their veterinarian. You can always save the material the dog vomits and keep it in the fridge until your appointment for your vet to examine if you are uncertain.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! The vomit looks like foreign material like hay or some sort of basket or string material. I would look around the house or outside and see what she is getting in to. It doesn't look like round worms to me. She is eating something she shouldn't be. I advise locating where she is getting it and removing it before it causes a blockage. Have a great day

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question. That looks like it could be made up of hair, rice, and some sort of foreign body. Lola may have been eating grass as well if she had an upset stomach, and that could cause the color of the vomit. Keep an eye on her for now, and if she vomits again, have her seen by a vet. Difficult to know exactly what this material is, but if there is the doubt of a foreign body ingestion a clinical examination at your local veterinarian would be immediately essential to rule it out and treat appropriately. Antibiotics and possibly further investigations (like abdominal imaging as ultrasound or radiographs) may be needed. Does this look like worms?
Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! This looks to me like some sort of rope, string, or stringy fabric. It doesn't appear like intestinal worms but I think I'd need to see it up close to get a better idea. You may want to save it and have your vet look at this in person and perhaps take a fresh fecal sample with you so your veterinarian can test for intestinal worms just to make sure.

Vomiting can be observed with gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, food sensitivity, foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. It could have been due to the milk bone but I am worried that we could be missing something here. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. Treatment would depend on findings. You could try a bland diet composed mainly of boiled chicken and white rice which is easily digestible and can help with an upset stomach. Good luck and have a great day!

Hello I have a 6 month old pug and I recently noticed this in his poop today and it does not look normal at all. I have researched and I have not found anything. Could you help me on finding out what this is? Thank you!
Not sure but this could be due to an undigested vegetable material. They do not look like parasites and I would recommend not to worry unless you notice any other sign like vomiting, persistency of that material, diarrhoea, inappetence or lethargy. I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. If you still notice that material inside after a week of dietary change, a fecal analysis would be ideal to identify the nature of it. If Odin vomited up foreign material and is continuing to vomit, I would strongly suggest getting him in to be seen by a veterinarian sooner rather than later.
