My dog was electrocuted and paralyzed. What are the long-term effects?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 9 months and 19 days old | 60 lbs

My dog electrocuted himself that cause him paralyzed for about 30 minutes. What are the possibilities will going to happen on my dog??

He may have residual damage to some nerves; meaning he may possibly have neurological problems for the rest of his life. Electrocution can cause brain damage and damage inside the mouth. Without examining him myself I cannot tell you much more. I suggest you get him to a vet for an exam.

    I am not aware of any long term effects of electrocution. Electrocution causes pulmonary edema or fluid buildup in the lungs, and if a dog makes it through the acute crisis the long term prognosis is generally good. I suppose if she was on a ventilator or developed pneumonia there could have been some scar tissue formation in the lungs. I'd be concerned that the breathing problems are unrelated and would recommend seeing your veterinarian if you haven't already.
