My dog ripped out neuter stitches. Should I go to the ER or wait?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Bichon mix, 6mo boy, neutered one week ago. He ripped off all stitches and staples with his teeth. All vaccines up to date. Normal energy level, appetite normal. No fever or bleeding noted. Do we have to go to the ER or can we wait until tomorrow morning to visit his regular doctor? Thank you.

The wound would need ideally to be checked as it could get infected and this can delay the healing process. This can wait until tomorrow morning. Ideally a buster collar should be used to avoid any further licking.
