Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rat Terrier | Female | spayed | 11.5 lbs

Hello. In a few weeks I am having a procedure done in which nuclear medicine will be put in me. I was tld at first to stay away from my dog for 24 from when the dye is applied. Then I was told it is only dangerous if my dog is a puppy which she is not. I would like a vet's opinion

Hello. While I am not sure what your procedure will be, but I am familaiar with a nuclear stress test where Thallium is injected. We generally do not worry too much with an adult pet mainly because they just do not have the lifespan that we do. It would not hurt not to hold Ruby or let her sit in your lap for 24 hours, but this is really not a major concern. She can stay with you. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
