dog hacking a lot randomly was fine earlier. he still acting normal as far as pooping and peeing and eating and drinking. he was backed up on poop so he’s been pooping a lot tonight. i tried giving him bread thinking maybe something was stuck in his throat. his temperature is normal. when he’s outside he doesn’t do the hack thing but when he comes in the house he does. he’s still acting happy. (hacking like something needs to come up but isn’t) his lip shaking and he breathing hard off and on.

Bear could have an upper respiratory infection or kennel cough that is causing his coughing and hacking. Heart disease, bronchitis and allergies are a few other potential causes of a cough. If he is breathing hard and unable to rest I would recommend seeing an emergency vet tonight. Otherwise as long as he continues to eat and act normal otherwise you could wait to see your vet during regular hours.
