My 11-year-old Yorkie has an irritated lump near his anus. What is it?

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 10 years and 2 months old | 10 lbs

My dog Bear had a internal mass by his anus very irritated I did soak his bottom to see if he was constipated. He is make 11 year old Yorkie we are taking him into the Dr in the morning. The mass is pretty big and it's only on the left side. Any idea? Thank you

A common cause for such lumps is anal gland impaction or abscess but tumours are a potentially rare cause. Your vet can check and empty the glands or advise further investigation as appropriate. If related to impacted gland, a fiber supplement can help prevent repeated issues
