Is CBD oil safe for dog arthritis and glucosamine use?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shorthaired Pointer | Female | spayed | 8 years and 5 months old | 55 lbs

Penny had Lateral Suture CCL surgery 6 months ago. She has arthritis now and is very sore after getting up out if bed. She hobbles around for a bit and then the limping wears off. I've tried Cosequin, Doggie Dailies and Springtime Longevity...they helped a little, but she still gets stiff. I'm hoping to start CBD oil on her as I have heard a lot of good things about it. Are there any side effects? Is it ok to use long term? And can she take it with her glucosamine supplements? Thank you!!!

As of yet, we have very little research on CBD oil in veterinary patients, so we cannot make any recommendations one way or the other about this product - we do not know what an appropriate dose might be, and if there are any potential health concerns or drug interactions in dogs. In addition, because it's a schedule 1 drug, it's illegal for us to prescribe or recommend. I'd speak to Penny's vet about giving her pain medication.

any perspective on canine CBD for joint care for a 12 year old Boston Terrier that is in good shape?

I am about to put my 14 year old Labrador on CBD - He currently takes Metacam and tramadol for his arthritis - can he take the cannabis oil alongside the Metacam and tramadol? Thanks

So I cannot say if it is safe to give Canyon the CBD oil along with his pain medications. Because of that, I do not recommend it.

13 yr old standard poodle has arthritis. Taking nutramax Dasuquin. Want to give him chondroitin sulfate. What do you recommend. Any pain mess without side effects. Cbd?
CBD has not been studied enough in animals for me to make a recommendation. You can use it if you want but no studies have been done to determine appropriate dosing, etc. The companies making this CBD oil have no clue. The people I know that have tried it report that all it does is make the animal sleepy. It is not actually helping the arthritis. If Ciggy is in that much pain I would much more recommend a NSAID and/or pain medication combination as treatment (like Rimadyl and Tramadol combination). We know those help. I don't know which Dasuquin product you are using but they all already contain chondroitin sulfate. If you are not using the one that also contains MSM I would recommend switching to that one as MSM is a natural anti-inflammatory. You do need to have Zoe seen by a vet to see if there is anything that can be given to her to make her more comfortable. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Best Friends also has a list of resources that offer financial assistance on their website. I'd also see if you can borrow money from family and friends. http://www.humanesociety.org/

What are your thoughts on CBD treatment for dogs with arthritis and joint issues? I purchased the product is the pics attached for my almost 12 year old dachshund who has arthritis in her front legs, wobbly bsck hips, and back issues.
Just like with human medicine, there is much to be studied when it comes to CBD treatment in dogs, so the answer is actually unknown. The product you have shown is not considered a CBD supplement as it just contains hemp seeds, which do not have the CBD's like marijuana flowers do. I see that this product also has omega 3/6 fatty acids which may be helpful. However, I wouldn't expect this product to be very helpful. It appears safe though, so you can give it and see if you notice any difference. If you finish the bottle and haven't noticed any benefit, then I wouldn't buy anymore. While supplements may be a helpful adjunct, the best products for arthritis are the ones your veterinarian can prescribe. If they Eschele is having a lot of difficulties with arthritis, then it's best to have your vet evaluate her and prescribe the necessary treatment if this hasn't been done already. I hope that helps and she feels better soon.

Hank is a 13 year old doggie. He has issues with walking in bare floors, and due to this, has set up camp in the hallway. I have been giving him CBD oil so it might help some of his anxiety. Am I doing the right thing?
