What's the best high-calcium food or hay for my nursing rabbit mom?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 4 lbs

my rabbit just had babies and i’m not sure what food would be the best for calcium content for her. i buy in bulk so that would also narrow my search down, but i can’t find anything i’m super sure about. what do you recommend?

Thanks for reaching out about Iola. Alfalfa hay is a good source of calcium and protein, and will be a good hay for the kits to eventually start eating for bone growth. Keep vegetable offerings in check, as can be sensitive to the delicate intestinal tracts of young animals. Good luck.
