My dog's nipple looks irregular and irritated. Is it just irritation?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 9 months old | 50 lbs

I noticed today that my dog's nipple looks irregular. This particular one has always been long but has never looked like this. He does like to scoot his stomach across the carpet and play rough with his dad. Maybe just irritated?

I can see some irritation of the skin just below the nipple, but the nipple itself doesn't look diseased. I would recommend trying a hot spot spray from you local pet store to see if you can resolve the itching and irritation of the skin. However, if it does not improe then its best to take Loki to your vet and discuss more treatment options for his apparent skin allergy. I hope that Loki's skin improves soon! Bset wishes and take care. : )
