Why does my 1-month-old Shih Tzu puppy have a red eye lump?

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | 1 month and 17 days old

My shih tzu puppy is 1 month old and suddenly something like this appeared last Monday. May I ask what is this? I do not know what cause this. Thank you so much.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Symphony. She may have a condition known as cherry eye where the third eyelid becomes prolapsed. She will need to see her veterinarian to know for sure. If this case, surgery can be performed to replace the gland. I hope this information helps!

    I presume that you are taking about a "cherry eye" which is a prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid. I am attaching a handout about it below. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=567 A prolapse tends to occur because the fibers holding it in place are weak. We do know know why this sometimes occurs in older dogs, but not earlier in their lives. The handout explains treatment options for you as well. Good luck!
