My dog's stomach feels hard and looks bigger. Is it bloat or gas?

My dog was stretching her hind legs two days ago and her stomach feels a bit harder and seems bigger im afraid she might have bloating , is it possible?

If Faithlynn had bloat, you would not only see an enlarged belly, but you would also see pacing, restlessness, anxiety, excessive drooling, and trying to vomit but cannot. A bigger belly only simply could be due to a big meal.

    If Yamato had bloat, you would see pacing, anxiety, restlessness, excessive drooling, and try to vomit but being unable to in addition to a bloated abdomen. From your description, it doesn't sound like he has bloat to me.

Poor pup! If your dog had bloat, she would also show signs as restlessness, pacing, glancing at her stomach, excessive drooling, a tight or swollen stomach, abdominal pain, and unproductive vomiting (trying to vomit with nothing coming up). If you are concerned she has bloat, then by all means take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now. In my opinion, it's was best to be safe than sorry, and since I can't see her in person, I will always recommend airing on the side of caution. Otherwise, you can monitor her for now. If she does show any of the additional signs of bloat, then rush her into a vet right away. I hope this helps!

Without more information it is difficult to tell what may be going on with Max. However I'm concerned about the possibility of bloat. Bloat (also known as Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus or GDV) is a life-threatening condition where the stomach twists and distends with gas. Bloat can occur in any dog, although large deep - chested dogs tend to be affected by it more frequently. A distended abdomen, retching/looking like he is trying to vomit without production of vomit, salivation, pale gums, and labored breathing can be signs of bloat, and if you notice these signs you should rush Max to the vet immediately, as it is a medical emergency and can be deadly. How do I know if my dog has over eaten or is experiencing bloat?
A bloat is a distended, firm abdomen. They can be very uncomfortable and restless and pant a lot. They may cry and get up and down. If he is unable to rest then you may need to see a vet to get him some relief until it all passes. If he is able to rest then it is best to take the food and water away and let him digest what he has eaten and only introduce small meals at a time for the next 24-48 hours

Because Scuttle ate a big meal, that's probably why his stomach is large and firm. If he was truly bloated, you would see pacing, restlessness, anxiety, excessive drooling, and trying to vomit but being unable to vomit. Since you are seeing those signs, I don't think he's bloated. I hope this helps.

Hopefully it's nothing. If she ate something she shouldn't have, has excessive gas/diarrhea or ate a large meal, you could see this. I advise to keep a very close eye on her. Watch for any signs of illness or discomfort and if these are seen, I recommend to get her into the veterinarian asap as a hard stomach can be an indicator of serious GI issues. Cass did eat a lot of food, so that can make her stomach look big. Keep a close eye on her, and rest her. No running, jumping, or playing. Do not take her for walk for at least two hours after this meal. If you see her stomach get larger, trying to vomit but can't, pacing, restless, anxiety, or excessive drooling, then those are signs of bloat and you have to take her into a vet immediately. With the bloat your dog would not be sleeping, he would be restless, panting and not be able to settle . It is most likely that he has some form of tummy upset , keep an eye on your dog' s feaces. If unable to sleep and starting to retch without bringing up anything, it could be a bloat.

Hi there. If they drank a lot of water at one time, it's certainly possible that their stomachs might be slightly larger for a short time. As long as they are acting normal, this shouldn't be anything to worry about. Signs of "bloat" (gastric dilatation and volvulus, or GDV) include repeated attempts to vomit, pacing and panting, acting restless or uncomfortable, pale gums, and weakness or collapse. If your dogs are showing these symptoms, then you need to take them to a vet right away. But if they're acting normal and you just feel that their stomachs look a bit larger after drinking water, this is not bloat and is nothing to be concerned about.

If she is acting normal otherwise than it might just be that her stomach is full from the feeding. She could also have a parasite causing her stomach to be enlarged. Have a vet take a look at her to determine if she needs treatment. She may need to be dewormed with a broad spectrum dewormer.

I would recommend that you have Bella examined by a vet. While stress at home can certainly cause problems, it does not often cause bloating in dogs. Bloating could be a sign of a serious medical condition, such as fluid building up in the abdomen, organ enlargement, excess gas in the intestines, etc. A vet will do a thorough examination and may recommend diagnostic testing, such as blood work or x-rays to determine the problem.
