Puppy's dark green, sticky, smelly poop on metronidazole: Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 8 days old | 50 lbs

My puppy had diarrhea multiple times and he threw up once but he’s on metronidazole now. He finally pooped after 2 days of taking his medicine. After seeing the vet. His poop was a lil sticky but firm and dark green. It smelled so bad. should I worry? Or wait until his next poop? He already has all his vaccines and he’s also in prevention of worms/tapeworms hookworms and the flea gummy every month too. So every month he takes 2 gummies.

Hello. If this is what his poop looks like now, I would not worry just because it was a little off color & smells. The medicine is probably doing this. As long as he continues to eat & drink, have normal, formed stools, finish his antibiotics as prescribe by your veterinarian & hopefully Billy will continue to do very well.
