My cat cries when I touch her back and urinates less. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 15 lbs

My cat is letting out a loud meow if input any pressure by the center of her back. That's her way of saying she doesn't like it. I can let or stroke the area. Just no pressure. She seems fine otherwise apart from urinating a bit less than usual. I've looked up possible causes but she doesn't really fit any of them. Hoping some light can be shed on this. We can't afford a lot if vet bills at the moment so I'm hoping its nothing too severe.

It means that area is painful to Shylo, and she may have hurt her back. I would avoid putting any pressure on it. Keep an eye on her for now, and if she becomes more lethargic, has a loss of appetite, continues to urinate less, or has any other concerning signs, have her seen by a vet.
