My weaned foal isn't eating hard feed. Is it safe to buy him?

I have bought a foal who was weaned 3 weeks ago, since weaning he has had a bad cold, vet treated with 8 days worth of antibiotics but foal is still not eating hard feed. He is happy eating haulage and symptom free but still not 100% himself. He is still with the breeder and I'm wondering if I should still go ahead with the purchase of him?

I don't think purchasing him at this stage is a good idea. He could have lung scarring from the infection that could cause issues down the line. I guess it really depends on what you want to do with him. Will he be just a pleasure horse or are you wanting to compete with him?
