My guinea pig isn't eating much after a broken leg. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | unspayed | 2 lbs

My Abby doesn’t eat as much as she used to. She had a splint put in because she broke her leg 2 weeks ago. She still drinks water and she eats her hay. She doesnt finish all her veggies like she used to though and she barely makes a dent in her pellets. Should I be very worried or give her some time? She was very annoyed by her bandage and wanted to remove it. Now that she’s not wearing it, she’s pretty content and still purrs when I pet her.

The bandage in this case is for sure playing a major role and could be related to stress and inappetence. I would give her some more time but if not recovering her normal appetite in a week or if actually loosing it more, then I would recommend an immediate check up
