Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 lbs
My elderly cat [ early/mid teens ] has been having diarrhea for the past 4-5 weeks. It came out of no where starting with just fowl smelling soft stool but as the weeks passed it got softer and now it's just liquid death. In the 6 years I've known this cat he has never had this issue. My hamster had diarrhea the last 3 weeks before he died, is my cat dying? My neighbors left him behind so by default he became mine, they never took him to the vet so he's never been and I cat afford to take him.

Diarrhea can be a sign of a number of different diseases ranging from hyperthyroidism to infections to inflammatory bowel disease or even intestinal cancer. Some of these diseases can be fatal if left untreated, and regardless of the cause of the diarrhea if it goes on it could lead to dehydration and nutritional deficiencies. I think you need to see a veterinarian - you could look into Care Credit as a payment option, or you could ask your local shelter if there is any subsidized veterinary care near you. www.carecredit.com
