Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Female | unspayed
My golden syrian hamster normally scratches at the corner of her bin cage whenever I go check up on her. She isn't yet tamed and I hope I can achieve that one day. Whenever I placed my hand inside her cage, she'd just give one sniff and run to a corner. She'd scratch the floor and act as if she is digging. 1)Why is that? I don't think it's the space problem as she has two bin cage connected which I believe fulfilled the space she needs. 2)how should I tame her?

Thanks for reaching out about Princess and including a photo. She is probably scratching because she wants out. Have you tried offering an exercise ball or wheel? As for taming her, many hamsters can be cage aggressive, so maybe lifting her out with a towel or box, then placing on a flat surface to see if this helps her feel more comfortable. Good luck.
