Cat X-ray shows fluid, but no symptoms. Can X-rays be wrong?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 4 years and 11 months old | 6.8 lbs

how does vet tell cat has fluid. can xray be read wrong. no symptoms match fluid in lungs but vet says xrays show fluid? cat breathes fine cannot hear fluid with stethoscope either.

Fluid can be determined using X-ray or ultrasound, as well as sometimes taking a sample from the swelling/cavity where fluid is suspected. Gas can sometimes be mistake for fluid depending on how opaque it is on the X-ray, however if your vet suspects fluid, taking additional shots or tests may help determine if that is the case.
