Poor Patches! In order to know if she has a broken or dislocated leg, you will need to take her to a veterinarian for an exam and x-rays. This is not something that can be diagnosed or treated at home, so please take her to an emergency clinic tonight to be seen. If you're not sure where to go, try calling your regular vet's office - their voicemail message should have a contact number for your nearest ER or an on-call doctor for emergencies.

Hello. Can you tell if any particular area of her leg hurts? Gently feel up & down the limb. Look at each toe & each nail bed to make sure she did not tear a nail. If you do not feel or see anything, then your vet is the best person to figure out what is wrong with her. She may have a simple strain or sprain, or she may have torn a tendon or ligament. Regardless, x-rays may be necessary. Pain medications, rest, cool compresses, even cold laser therapy may all help to repair Greta's injury & get her feeling better quickly. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

It sounds like she may have dislocated or broken her leg and without appropraite care it is likely the leg will set crooked causing pain and arthritis going forward. I recommend you seek advice from a vet - contact your local humane society for subsideized clinics etc or enquire about care credit to get her the help she needs
