I have a 6 month old male kitten. He's my first male cat. As a way to increase his water intake, I've been adding sardine water, about 2 to 3 tablespoons with each meal. Here's the recipe for sardine water: Add a can of sardines packed in water with no salt to 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes. Spray to remove sardines from liquid. That's the liquid that I'm adding to his meals. Is this something that's okay to do?

I bet he loves it! As long as there are no additives to the sardines like garlic or onions (which are toxic) I don't see anything wrong with doing this. You can also add warm water to canned cat food to make a gruel/ and feed this to him in additional to his dry food. Please feel free to post any additional questions.
