My dog ate wicker and has diarrhea. Keep giving him probiotics?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 11 days old | 32 lbs

My dog has had occasional diarrhea for the past two weeks my vet had given me some antibiotics and some probiotics to get rid of the diarrhea. Today he had a solid bowel movement that turned into diarrhea at the end and I noticed that there was a bunch of wood in it kind of like wicker. He must’ve eaten it somewhere with the dog sitter a couple weeks ago. So I was wondering should I continue giving him the probiotics to form his bowel movements or should I stop it for now?

I would continue with the probiotics. They won't hurt anything and they may help. I also suggest you feed some canned pumpkin for the increased fiber. This may help "push" anymore wicker pieces out. You can give 1/4 cup of pumpkin twice a day. Pure pumpkin, not pie filling. Hope this helps.
