Why is my dog in heat peeing so much and anxious? Will spaying help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 25 lbs

Hi! I have a rescued dog who appears like she may have been abused. She is currently in heat because she was never spayed by the previous owners. She urinates with sudden movements by me and seems to be urinating a lot more now that it’s her cycle. Will this stop when she gets spayed? How can I get this behavior to stop and how can I help her feel calm and not so anxious?

Maizy will urinate more than normal due to her heat cycle. I recommend to have her spayed in 8 weeks. The excessive urination from the heat cycle will stop.
