My dog won't eat her regular food, but seems healthy. Is she sick?

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | spayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 8.5 lbs

Is it normal for a dog to not eat her regular amount of food. Today my dog doesn’t seem hungry/ won’t eat. I got her to eat about half by playing with her food and getting her to eat it. I also tried wetting the food down and she won’t eat it unless I feed it to her like a treat. She has no fever and doesn’t seem sick besides not eating?

This may not be normal, and a sudden decrease in appetite can be one of the first signs a dog is sick. Keep a close eye on Patsy, and if she is still acting this way in the morning, have her seen by a vet.

I am sorry to hear that Camila is not eating and I can see why you are concerned as am I. It is great that she is acting normal and playful but as most dogs are very food motivated a decreased appetite is their way of telling us they don't feel like themselves. Decreased appetite is unfortunately a very common symptom for many different problems, some more serious then others. It can be from something going on with the GI tract itself or any other body system (other organs). Is there anything she could have eaten that she was not supposed to (got in to the trash, chewed up toys)? What I would recommend is that Camila have a visit to a veterinarian for an examination. More than likely they will also want to check some lab work to look at her organ function and potentially take some x-rays. Based on these results they may prescribe some medication or may recommend additional testing to investigate her decreased appetite further. Heat can definitely throw a dog off her appetite. Offering a meal tonight once it has cooled off may encourage her to eat, you can also entice her with a little boiled chicken if needed. However, if she continues to refuse, or starts to show other signs of illness such as lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, etc, seeking veterinary care to rule out any other underlying issues is a good idea.

As long as Chloe is still eating her regular meals I think you can continue to monitor her appetite - some dogs can go through phases where they seem picky. If she is vomiting or having diarrhea while also acting disinterested in food you should see your vet. If she continues to act picky and lethargic and your gut tells you something is wrong the safest thing to do is to see your vet.

I would be concerned that Queen isn't eating because she has a medical illness. Anorexia is a very general sign of illness in dogs, and can be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. I would have her seen by a vet as soon as possible for a health check. The vet can diagnose what is causing her to not eat and can discuss treatment plans with you for her.

If Bella ate dinner last night and again at midnight, it is possible that she is not hungry. However, if she continues to not eat through the remainder of the the day, I would recommend you take her to the veterinarian because this could be a sign of illness. If you notice any lethargy, vomiting or diarrhea, you should take her to the veterinarian right away.

What does it mean when a 4 month old puppy is laying around and she still dranking and eating
It's impossible to know if this is significant or not without more history and likely a physical exam. If Stormy has been running around playing all day, this is likely normal because she is tired. If there is not a good reason for her to be tired, she is likely sick. If you suspect Stormy is ill, I recommend to have her examined by her veterinarian if it lasts beyond 24 hours or if she starts getting worse. I hope this helps.

Losing the appetite is not necessarily a sign of early pregnancy. Most dogs have no symptoms until middle to late pregnancy. Just like humans, pets can lose their appetite for many reasons. If she loses her appetite for over 24 hours, or if she starts to show other symptoms of illness I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope she feels better quickly.

Hi, has anything changed in the environment ? For example is the weather hotter than previously ? Does she still have same access to food and resources and outside (if going outside)? If nothing has changed there is the possibility that she is feeling under the weather and I would recommend to have her checked over.

This can be a sign that Daisy is sick. I would try to tempt her to eat by offering some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice. If she refuses to eat that and is still acting this way in the morning, I would take her into the vet for a health check. If she starts vomiting, has diarrhea, and/or becomes very lethargic, then I would rush her into an ER vet. Best of luck.
