My dog ate bacon, threw up, now lethargic and constipated. Feed him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year old | 26 lbs

My dog ate 15 thick slices of raw bacon yesterday and I took him to the vet. They induced vomiting but he only vomited 5 of the pieces up. Last night he ate dinner but he only pooped small pebbles last night after dinner and has not pooped since then. He seems a little lethargic but still playing a drank a little water this morning. Should I feed him this morning? Or should I give him some pumpkin to help his gi?

Fast him until tonight. Offer small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte throughout the day. Consider feeding him a bland diet in small, frequent amounts for the next few days then transition slowly to his regular diet afterwards. Monitor for vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, lethargy or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.
