What vaccines does my 5-month-old puppy need if he's behind?

Good evening, When I purchased my dog at 11 weeks old I was told he received his canine 5-in-1 vaccination, round/hookworm and heart guard plus blue. My dog is now 5 months old. What other vaccinations might he still need?

Because Ghost last got his vaccines at 11 weeks of age, you need to start his vaccine schedule over again. He is not vaccinated at all. He needs his DHPPi vaccine and rabies vaccines, as well as a deworming treatment and heart worm treatment. Please take him into a vet to get this due.

Depending on his age and vaccination history, he made need to restart the 5in1 series again and have 2 doses 3-4 weeks apart. The best thing would be to have a vet examine him and evaluate his vaccine history and determine which vaccines he needs and when.

I will be adopting a dog from a friend who's unable to take care of him but the only shots he's had are rabies and he's 19 weeks old so will he need 1 shot of the combo or 3 shots every 4 weeks
Since the puppy is getting a late start on the other vaccines, you will not need to do as many. The series of 4 is usually when the vaccines are started at 6-8 weeks and the immune system is just developing . I would recommend a series of 2 DHLPP vaccines with the injections being done 3 weeks apart. Your pup may also benefit from a kennel cough vaccine which can be done with the same schedule. Your puppy should also have been dewormed and it is time to start heartworm prevention, so getting him an appointment with your vet can get you started on all of these things he needs.

My dog was fully vaccinated at 4 months old when I got him. He is now 5 years old. What updated vaccinations does he need?
Tango needs his DHPPi vaccine and rabies vaccine. He will need boosters of them four weeks after the first ones are given because it's been so long since he last was vaccinated, and he never received the very important one year boosters.

We acquired Onyx from an older senile woman. We have no idea what her vaccination record is, although we were told she is up to date, and our vet does not do titer tests. She is approximately 8 months old. We have doubts she was vaccinated properly.
Congratulations on your new dog! If the vaccine history is uncertain, I would recommend starting the vaccine series as though she had not had any vaccines, which would involve a rabies vaccine, and then 2 rounds 3 to 4 weeks apart of the DHPP vaccine. Depending on your dog's lifestyle and where you live, I would also consider the leptosporosis vaccine and the bordetella vaccine. Your vet can discuss these options and your lifestyle with you and help you to decide what vaccines to choose.

Hello Khirod! Yes, you will need to start his DHPPi vaccine series over again to make sure he is protected. He is at risk of rabies if he's not vaccinated for it, so I would get him vaccinated for that as well. Best of luck.

Vaccine recommendations to partially depend upon his lifestyle and where you live. Also, that second vaccine should have been given in a 2 to 4 week window from the initial vaccine. If it was given later than four weeks after the first vaccine, he will need booster vaccines within a 2 to 4 week window. Assuming he was given the vaccines at the appropriate time, Kai should get another DHLPP and a rabies vaccine. If he gets groomed, goes to the park or has contact with other dogs in general, you may consider getting a kennel cough vaccine. Other vaccines are for Lyme disease and Influenza (dog flu). Your local veterinarian can discuss if these diseases are present in your area and what potential risk factors exist. You may be able to find lower cost vaccinations at a low-cost vaccine clinic or a vaccine clinic in general. You can generally find information online. It is not too late for vaccines. Schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Discuss your dog's lifestyle. Together, you can determine which vaccine protocol is best for your dog. At the very least your dog should get a rabies vaccine and a distemper/parvovirus combo vaccine. He may require boosters 4 weeks after the initial vaccines. Consider a heartworm test and fecal as well. Monthly preventatives are also strongly recommended.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Linus. Based on the information you have provided, it doesn't sound like he ever finished his puppy series. The distemper-parvo combination vaccine (DHPP) is typically given every 2-4 weeks until the puppy is at least 16 weeks of age. The "L" of that combination is leptospirosis. That takes two vaccines to complete the series so this is likely fine. He should have a bordetella vaccine and depending on his lifestyle, influenza. I hope this information helps!

Yes, you can get Rambo his rabies injection now. He will need two series of the rabies vaccine each given four weeks apart to provide immunity against rabies. He will need an additional vaccine booster a year later to keep his immunity. The vet can go over his vaccine schedule after that. He should also get a DHPPi (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza) vaccines. Again he will need two series of this vaccine given four weeks apart to be fully immunized. He will need a booster of it in a year to keep his immunity. I'd schedule an appointment with the vet for him as soon as possible. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Hello, I was given this paper with vaccine information when I picked up my first puppy. What exactly has he been vaccinated for and what vaccines do you recommend he get?
It looks like Shep has gotten two doses of a DHPPi combination shot, and a Neopar vaccine at five weeks, which would have had no effect on him (he was too young for it). He needs another DHPPi combination shot as well as rabies. The next DHPPi combination shot should be given four weeks after the last one, so it should be done 5/13/19. You can get his rabies vaccine done at 12 weeks of age. I hope this helps!
