My dog's butt is red and swollen. Is it allergies or anal glands?

Honestly, it could be either from these photographs. If she's not scratching or dragging her bottom and the puffiness is the only symptom at this time, I would keep an eye on it. If it doesn't improve or resolve in a couple of days, I recommend getting her seen by your vet for an exam.

    Dogs can itch itch around their anus for several reasons including allergies as well as anal gland issues. Sometimes dogs anal glands can get impacted and then infected and abscess. This can be very painful and requires medical attention. Arnie will need to be examined by a vet to determine exactly what is going on and to get some relief. Hope he feels better soon.
