Why is my spayed dog bloated with bloody stool and anal gland issues?

My dogs just been spayed. She's been treated for an infection with clavaseptin. She's got a bloated belly. Her anal glands went on her surgical suit and it has specs of blood in it(defiently anal glands as it smells like copper/fish). She also had blood in her poo but not a lot. What could be going on? She's at the vets tonight (1 month spay follow up) but looking at what to expect.

Poor girl. Without seeing her in person, I can't say what is going on with her. I would speak with her vet to talk about what's going on, and they can give you an accurate description. She's in the best place and I hope she's better soon.

If they vet recommended spaying, I wondering if the bleeding is actually coming from her vulva. If it's definitely from her anus, she needs a rectal exam, abdominal x-rays, and then likely a colonocopy to look for the problem. I would be concerned about a cancerous growth.

My dog has a swollen abdomen (pot belly) since more than a week and not eating anything at all. She's also having bloody diarrhoea like stools. Please help. We are giving her Taxim-o.
I am very sorry to hear about your dog. She definitely needs to go see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Swelling of the abdomen as you describe can be from many causes including fluid buildup in the abdomen (due to things such as heart disease, liver disease, low protein levels due to kidney loss or intestinal loss or severe intestinal parasitism), tumors in the abdomen as well as tumors that are bleeding or oozing into the abdomen. The vet will palpate your dog's belly and may recommend testing including a fecal test to check for parasites and bacteria, an x-ray to look for fluid and tumors, and bloodwork to check protein and red and white blood cell levels.

If you are concerned you should take her back to the vet for a follow up. It sounds like she is stable but I cannot make that call for you. Hello. The surgical incision looks very good, & her stool is normal, so this may be a case of stress-induced colitis. If she is otherwise feeling well, eating & drinking normally, then I would not be too concerned. The blood should go away. If there is still blood present in the stool when you go back to have the staples removed, ask your veterinarian about trying a round of the antibiotic, Metronidazole. It has some anti-inflammatory properties & is an excellent medication for possible infections in the gut. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

As she is unspayed i strongly suspect a uterine infection, it can often be missed on blood test and xray. i strongly recommend taking her urgently to the vet for a recheck, an ultrasound needs to be done and bloods needs to be repeated, if this is what i suspect, she will need an emergency surgery to have her uterus removed.

Hi there. Poor Mia- a rough few days! Blood in the stool, or colitis, is not a normal occurrence. However, we do know that stress can cause or be a factor in colitis. And she has had a lot of stress on her body this week! I would encourage you to have a follow up appointment with your veterinarian as soon as possible. I usually put these guys on a very bland diet and probiotics. Occasionally I also start antibiotics if I have a concern about an infectious process. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon! Oh my. I am sorry that Chloe has what sounds like a mass on her mammary gland that is now infected. I would highly recommend taking her to your local vet soon to have this area examined thoroughly. She likely will need to be placed on a short course of antibiotics and also have the swelling tested to be sure. I would try to clean it as best you can for now, with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water followed by sterile saline daily until you can get her seen by your vet. This will at least keep the area sterilized until further action can be taken. I do hope that Chloe is able to make a full and speedy recovery and best wishes moving forward with her health. That is unexpected. I recommend to get Sadie in to see her veterinarian quickly. An infection of the internal surgical site or a bladder infection could be to blame. The doctor will likely want to check her PCV to make sure there’s no evidence that one of the ligatures came off a blood vessel and internal bleeding is present. I recommend to call them now and tell them what is happening. I suspect they will want to see her. Hopefully it’s nothing serious! Please feel free to post any additional questions.

Poor Cody! If the bleeding is coming from her vaginal area I would be extremely worried about an infection in her uterus. If that's the case she needs emergency surgery right away. I recommend taking her to a vet ASAP for an exam, blood work and X-rays. Good luck and kisses to Cody!

young dog about 1 year old spayed one week ago. Since that time she has been straining some when outside. She had a bloody mucus discharge the first day. Now the discharge appears to be blood only. when she was spayed she was pregnant. I am not sure
I recommend to call the clinic who preformed the procedure. It's possible the blood is coming from the surgery site or that she has a bladder infection (which can happen after a spay). The veterinarian may want to exam Sissy to make sure she is not bleeding internally from the surgery site. They may also want to test her urine.
