My dog's wound has a raised lump and scab. Is this normal healing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Spitz | Male | unneutered | 6 years and 8 months old | 13.22 lbs

My dog had a cut from somewhere in his back area and I didn't notice it cos of the far. However after I saw it, it was smelling foul and there was pus in it. I cleaned it and applied antibiotic cream. The wound is circle shaped but not big. Now after 5/6 days its looking good and smaller but the wound is now little raised like a lump and a thin scab has formed over it. There is no redness or pain or drainage, just little raised like a lump. Is it normal ?

Hi, would you mind to post a picture ? This would help understand if the raised area is just a scab and part of normal healing process or rather an infection getting worse (small abscess developing ). Hope this helps,
