My 2-month-old kitten is dehydrated, won't eat, has flu. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 1 month and 23 days old

My 2 months old kitten is in a life and death situation. He got viral flu for last 3/4 days. His symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration and not eating any kind of food. Took him to vet and gave him Cyprocin (antibiotics) and Emistat (for vomiting, diarrhea) injections. Doctor couldn't do nothing farther and didn't want to take risk because my kitten its too week and small, except he instructed me to feed him same medicine as syrup. But still his not taking anything. Please, help me out.

Poor little one, I would recommend that he has fluids intravenously and medications through the drip until he starts to eat.. then you can start oral medications. If he is dehydrated already, as time goes by without eating, he will be getting worse. Hope you can have him rechecked and that something a little more intensive can be done for him. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
