My dog got Zipyran. Can he still take tapeworm meds for UK travel?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chinese Shar-Pei | Male | neutered | 12 years old

The vet has given my dog zipyran. I know this is a worming treatment for 3 month cover. Our dog returnes to UK from Europe next February if he takes the zipyran will this affect him taking tapeworm medication which he has to take 24hours before travelling and travel in the next five days. This has been recorded in his passport.

Hello. Zipyran will take care of tapeworms, in addition to hooks, rounds & whipworms. If Jorge was just administered the zipyran, I would re-administer this before travel back to the UK, or you can use something just for the tapeworms if this is your only concern. Either way will be safe. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
