My dog cries when picked up under ribs, but acts normal. What's wrong?

My dog suddenly cries out when i pick him up under the rib cage part but he still runs and jumps as normal please help. Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | unneutered | 14 lbs
