Hey, I have a pit bull named percy. Hes one and a half years old, and has an issue with chewing. He has burn like ulcers on the roof of his mouth this morning and has been straining to breathe at times...he hasn't but it sounds like he has the hiccups with a squeak toy in his throat.

I hate to hear this is happening. Anytime a pet has changes to the respiratory pattern, this should be viewed as a potential emergency situation. I recommend to have him examined right away. Chewing does not normally cause ulcers. Viruses can. So can chewing on electrical cords which could also cause pulmonary edema which can show up as problems breathing. It's best to play it safe in this situation. I hope this helps.
