My dog is throwing up bile and has mucus in her poop. What's wrong?

I have a 10 month old husky/rottweiler and the past 2 mornings she has been vomiting or bringing bile up and when she passes her stools there is sometimes a clear mucus after. Should I be worried?

Hi, and thanks for your question. These signs could be compatible with an inflammation infection of the gastrointestinal system and surrounding organs (like pancreas and liver). As a first approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days.I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. If that is the case, antibiotics and possibly further investigations (like abdominal imaging as ultrasound or radiographs) may be needed.
