My dog eats bed sheets before sleep. Is blockage a risk? How to stop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | unneutered | 1 year old | 53.7 lbs

Aura has A habit of tearing bed sheets and consuming small pieces of cloth right before he is about to sleep. Will this cause internal blockage or will it pass through the digestive tract with no consequences at all? How should I discourage this behaviour?

This could possibly cause gastrointestinal upset and blockage depending on the size of the pieces ingested. I would recommend to try to ignore and do not reinforce this behaviour by saying NO! or giving him any attention and try to give him another command (like sit or go to bed) and reinforce it. Make sure there are no bed sheets around could be useful as well.
