My neutered male cat still mounts and bites my female cat. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

My roommates male cat keeps mounting and biting my female cat. He was not fixed before I moved in but my cat was. He got fixed after trying to get it on with her but that was about 2 months ago. I thought the behavior would stop but it has gotten worse. I would just like to know if this will stop eventually or if there is anything I can do to help stop it.

It does usually take a few months for all the hormones to dissipate post neutering, however if the cat was neutered at a much older age, he may still have some of the behaviors/interest even without the ability. Keeping the cats separated if this behavior occurs, or even adding in a pheromone diffuser (such as Feliway) may help with inter-cat interactions.
