Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 years old | 12 lbs
Okay, so my cat, Freya (female, 2yrs, spayed) shows all the signs of a mild case of feline hyperesthesia. But one thing is, she also phantom sprays. All the time. I’ve read that cats may do it when stressed, but she’s done it her entire life just to random things, rarely people. I was just wondering why? I can’t find any plausible reasons online, could something be wrong or is it just her personality?

Freya may have urinary pain or another source of pain that is causing her symptoms - occasionally back pain or skin allergies can mimic the signs of feline hyperesthesia syndrome. The phantom spraying could be a sign of lower urinary tract disease if she also urinates frequently or has blood in her urine. I'd recommend having her examined by your vet.
