My golden retriever has a swollen foot lump. Does he need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 9 years and 5 months old | 100 lbs

Our golden retriever has a lump on his foot. He’s not too bothered by it, but it’s swollen and wasn’t there a few days ago. He’s eating and drinking as normal and he’s walking without any issues.

I recommend to have Skipper examined by the veterinarian. Pets can get many types of skin masses but red raised masses are worrisome for a cancer called mast cell tumor. Best to get this checked out and play it safe. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
