Puppy sleepy after vet visit for vomiting/diarrhea, should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 3 days old | 70 lbs

My puppy Brinx was vomiting & had diarrhea & I took him into the vet & they told me it could just be from us switching his food too much which we have. They said he didn’t have worms or parvo, she checked his stool sample & ruled that out. they gave him two shots & sent me home with some pills & told me to give him them starting tomorrow morning & told me to feed him chicken & rice tonight. But he’s acting very sleepy & lazy ever since we got home is that normal? Should I be worried?

The vet can be pretty stressful, and it's possible the meds given caused some drowsiness (it would be hard to say without knowing what was given). I would keep an eye on Brinx and let him rest tonight and see how he is doing in the morning. If he is still lethargic in the AM or refuses to eat even a bland meal, letting you vet know is best.
