My 6-month-old kitten keeps throwing up yellow foam. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 months and 6 days old

Hello, my kitten of 6 months just threw up today. He also threw up 3 times last month. The vomit is a yellowish foamy liquid substance. He is still eating, drinking, and acting normal. Should I be concern? Do you recommend me to have him see a vet? The attached pictures are from today’s incident. Thank you for your help!

Yellow foamy vomit can sometimes indicate reflux or a very empty stomach. If it's only happened rarely, you can try offering food in smaller amounts more often to help keep Ravioli's tummy full and see if it helps. If he vomits more often, or seems lethargic or otherwise ill, or the vomiting continues intermittently even with a change in meal times, a vet visit is a good idea to rule out any more serious issues.

I'm glad to hear that Miran is still eating, drinking and acting normally after vomiting. While not "normal", it is fairly common for cats to vomit every once in awhile. Hairball-based vomiting episodes can often be managed with Laxatone. However, it sounds as though Miran's vomiting was bile. If Miran vomits more, becomes lethargic, refuses to eat or drink, or also develops diarrhea, he should be examined by a vet. Otherwise, just keep an eye on him. There isn't anything that you can do to prevent further vomiting at this point. I hope this helps and that all goes well!
