My cat has aggressive fleas, treatments failed. How to remove them?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

I have a 10mo old kitten with an aggressive flea problem after running outside. She's a long haired grey and white tabby indoor cat. I've given her flea baths, topical treatments, oral medicine and a flea collar but the fleas never truly go away. Now she's scratching fur off and the fleas are slowly making their way around the house. I fear if I bathe her again they will be so aggressive we cannot stay home. I need to know step by step how to remove the fleas from my cat and lower outbreaks, please

It sounds like she has a flea allergy in which case, she needs to be seen by a vet. Her body has mounted an immune response to the fleas (actually their saliva) and now the reaction won't stop even if you get the fleas off her. Steroids are often given to stop the body's reaction to the fleas. The vet can also give you a better idea of what products work best in your area against fleas. If you are worried about costs, I suggest you contact this clinic for services: ( https://www.fcnmhp.org/ )
